A look at the systems Russell built into his family’s 2024 Alliance Paradigm 395DS fifth wheel. The project, nicknamed Skippy, shows how the RV’s network and smart controls fit together.
Connectivity on the road
A 12-volt Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G router runs the cellular connection. A Parsec Husky antenna and TP-Link access point extend connectivity, with a DC-converted Starlink setup available as a secondary connection.
The control system
Home Assistant runs on a compact Beelink computer behind the main television. The system connects to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 433 MHz sensors, and the computer runs from the RV battery system through DC voltage conversion.

Wired networking over existing coax
Hitron MoCA adapters reuse the factory coax runs to reach the television locations and the internet bay. This gives wired devices a path through the rig and reduces traffic on Wi-Fi.
